Boddington Rachael

I am a self employed artist of many disciplines and interests, based in Whitby, with roots in Theatre Design, scene painting and props making. I usually do paintings as commissions, but am starting to paint for myself again, enjoying the results and hoping to show this one with you. 

Bon Fire

This was inspired by a day last spring, when I took some study photographs of my friend Michelle tending her allotment bonfire, just below Whitby Abbey. My painting anchors her as the central figure, commanding the elements, with a burst of texture and colour. I have purposely kept it loose and impressionistic and been sparing with the detail to preserve a dream-like quality of the occasion.
