Redcar Summer Exhibition 2024

13th July - 31st August

During the 2024 summer open call over we received over 400 submissions for the theme, which this year was ‘Environment’. To curate the exhibition we had the pleasure of inviting a guest curator, Professor Michael Archer, art critic and former head of Fine Art at Goldsmiths, University of London and of The Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford.

Throughout the opening weekend we hosted our biggest preview evening yet, had a fully booked curator talk where Michael gave us insights into his extensive career in the arts, from humble beginnings at Whitechapel gallery to curating exhibitions and what a gallery expects from an artist. We also hosted a fine art networking event, held artist mentoring sessions and our first meet the artist event.

With established artists from around the world through to emerging talent from the North East, the 2024 Redcar Summer exhibition was our biggest event to date.

You can view the artists work online below, of find it on display until the end of August.

This is a friendly session with peers exchanging our ideas and experiences in a small group setting. This session will be great for artists who are seeking to learn practical knowledge and skills dealing with the art market, learning about the curatorial process and the foundations of art or seeking some inspiration. Prof. Michael Archer, plus James Beighton and Aphra O’Conner from Tees Valley Arts as well as Miyoko Yamashita from RCCAG will be present to facilitate the day.
