Art in the attic
Visit us for one of our Art in the attic painting classes where we host a range of classes and workshops throughout the year. We offer a diverse range of art classes designed for both beginners and experienced artists with our skilled teachers who have a diverse mix of experience including training at Goldsmiths College and the BALTIC.

Beginners classes- Colour theory and learn to draw
We provide both one-on-one tuition in private lessons or offer classes in small group settings of up to 5 participants. For those interested in exploring different mediums, we also offer mixed media, oil painting, and watercolour painting classes.
Choose from one-to-one session with Miyoko or join a small group class for a block of 4 weekly sessions to fully immerse yourself in the artistic process.
ABSTRACT PAINTING
Thursdays 1:00-3:00pm 21st, 28th November & 5th, 12th December
Suitable for All Levels/Limited to 4 people
Whether you're an experienced painter or a beginner, our tutor will help you understand 'abstraction' and create captivating, unique pieces that reflect your own style and vision. This course will equip participants with a good understanding of abstract painting styles and subject matter. By the end of the course, you will have gained a better understanding of abstraction and created a finished painting.
If you are not familiar with the theory of colours or would like to do some revision, we recommend the colour theory workshop (Beyond the Colour Wheel) prior to attending the class.
The course consists of 4 weekly sessions. Each session is 2 hours.
Cost: £100 for the course (4 weeks) including basic materials.

Oil Painting
Thursdays 1:00-3:00pm 21st, 28th November & 5th, 12th December
Suitable for all levels/Limited to 4 people
This course explores various oil painting techniques including 'Impasto', 'grading' or use of part knife and cloth. At the beginning of the course, colour mixing will be explained. You will be free to choose your own interest subject matter with the help or guidance of the tutor if you are not sure about the subject you wish to work with.

Mixed Media Painting
Wed 1:00-3:00pm 20th, 27th November & 4th, 11th December
Suitable for All Levels/Limited to 4 people.
Join our mixed media painting class and explore the exciting world of art through a variety of mediums! In this class, you'll learn mixed media techniques using multiple painting mediums and forms such as collage. The tutor will guide you through each step of the process, from selecting materials to creating a finished piece. This is a cosy small group course. You'll enjoy mixing with other like-minded individuals to work together and exchange ideas and thoughts.

Botanical Painting (Water Colour)
Starting in Spring 2025
Suitable for All Levels/Limited to 4 people
Do you like plants or enjoy working in the garden? Botanical painting is traditionally used for the purpose of scientific recording. However, botanical painting can produce something attractive and the process is soothing and satisfying.
This course teaches how to observe plants and trace their shapes and colours using pencil and watercolour paint. Through this course, you will gain confidence in drawing, understanding colour, light and shade.
The course consists of 4 weekly sessions. Each session is 2 hours.

Learn to draw
Starting in Spring 2025
Suitable for Beginner's Level/Limited to 4 people
This introductory drawing class will teach you how to draw shapes in proportion, light and shadow as well as how to view objects using 'negative space'. You will also enjoy experimenting with various drawing mediums such as pencil, charcoal, pastel, ink and even cloth.
The course consists of 4 weekly sessions. Each session is 1.5 hours.
Cost: £70 for the course (4 weeks) including all the basic materials.
