RCCAG provides young or any age early career artists a space to show their work and somewhere to meet other artists for exchanging ideas, learning skills and gaining knowledge. RCCAG will also invite established UK and international artists to exhibit their work and share their practices with the local art community and visitors of the RCCAG.
Our mission is to encourage artists to raise their voices and directly communicate with the community or those in power about contemporary issues.
Miria Miria is a permanent resident artist at the RCCAG. She is passionate about the role of art in bringing about societal change.
This is a new constituted group based in the Redcar Contemporary Art Gallery building. The group's mission is to convey collective voices about issues of our time, through art and art related activities for social change. We facilitate and engage with developing and delivering projects by working with professional and early carrier artists as well as the local community.
Together with 42 primary school children from Dormanstown, we have created some land art on the Redcar beach. Their collaborative mini
land art sculptures will be exhibited from 8 Dec. 2023
This winter, we are knitting with support from Erica Johnson (Aircon Group) and her knitting group as well as Durham Loopy Lady knitters group, the newly formed Redcar Contemporary Art Group are responding to the Energy crisis by creating a Christmas Tree with hand knitted scarves. When the tree comes down, in January, all the scarves will be passed to people who wish to have one.
Winter 2022, We did the Campbell Soup project as a response to the cost of living crisis.
Spring 2024, we will invite 500 individual community members to share an image, which is important to them to understand us and our community to co-create an exhibition of 500 images.
