I reflect on the poverty driven scepticism and perceived ugliness of post-industrial Teesside, post covid society and human strength and resilience in adversity. I work in a spontaneous instinctual way, elements of chance influencing the finished forms. The resulting anthropomorphic pieces, that have oblique references to the human body, are a form of decoupage, pulling together disparate and discarded materials, memories, thoughts, and ideas to make a whole. Viewers are invited to find something in the work that resonates with them on a personal level.
