What is your influence?

My creative practice is heavily influenced by my love of nature and a strong desire to bring an element of the outside, in. I like to document not only how a landscape may look but how it makes me feel. I live in a remote off grid cottage, Living without electricity, WiFi and central heating means you notice a lot more within the natural world, subtle changes which are so often missed in the modern world that you not only see but really feel as well. There are few distractions and life is dictated much more by the circadian rhythms, but there is a huge element of freedom in that too, to live more closely with nature. I work with mixed media, with a focus on acrylic paints and inks but like to incorporate collage, pencil, oil pastel and any other materials I am drawn to.

A more abstract landscape which was part of a coastal series I created shortly after moving away from the coast.
